This is one item of original high impedance headphones made at some point in the first half of the 20th century. They are wired in series for mono giving a measured resistance of a little over 4K Ohms, 2K Ohms per phone. You can use these for crystal sets, vintage radios, and they work fine when plugged directly into the headphones socket on my Murphy B40 valve communications receiver. I've tested these on a crystal set too.

The D.C. resistance across the wires measures over 4K Ohms, though if you measure the reactive impedance at 1kHz it's more like 12K Ohms in total due to the inductance of the internal windings. L measures as 1.465 H.
