This is one item of used 20A D.C. full scale deflection Ammeter. The needle zeroes correctly and I have tested it for accurate reading at 5A. The shunt is internal to the device, so no additional external component is required. The resistance is too low for me to measure accurately. The actual item is shown. The width is 88mm and the height is 76mm. The panel circular cut-out required is 71mm diameter. The instrument extends 62mm behind the panel.
This would be a suitable meter for giving a clear indication of D.C. charge current into a battery system e.g. from a solar or wind generator in a caravan or on a boat. Like me, you might be more convinced by an approximate reading from a moving needle than a digital display reading to three decimal places.
